Investigation of the effect of some polar organic solvents on the leaching and dissolution kinetics of chalcopyrite in hydrogen peroxide and sulfuric acid solution

ABSTRACT. The effect of acetic acid and ethanol as polar aqueous solvents on sulfuric with hydrogen peroxide an oxidant was studied. A small amount these significantly improved the copper leaching recovery. parameters such temperature, stirring speed, H2O2 concentration, solid/liquid ratio, H2SO4 concentration particle size were examined. About 76.33% highest Cu extraction gained 2 M H2O2, 600 rpm 50 °C 1 H2SO4, 240 min reaction 75 x 53 µm fraction. Further experimental tests carried out when solid-to-liquid ratio (S/L), size, temperature kept constant to investigate in range 0–2 M. results proved that recovery reached 99.03% 180 acid. While increased up 100% 90 time. dissolution found be described by mixed kinetic model activation energy 54.37 kJ/mol. Addition suggested controlled diffusion across product layer.
